Dear Laurie, I received your recent letter and thank you for good wishes for my birthday.

Typewritten letter. Claude thanks Laurie for the birthday wishes and goes on to discuss "The trailer park venture..." He says that it is a gamble, but to "...be sure to leave a bridge standing over which to make a safe retreat if it should become necessary." Then he says, "Now that Allen (Andrews) has gambled and apparently lost, has the bridge over which he may have looked ahead to carry him been built strong enough to carry the financial load?"
