Title:
Darling Emma — Letter to Emma Norton — From Sandy Creek
Scope & Content:
Teed speaks of receiving a letter from his sister and encourages her to go to Elmira [New York]. He says that he wishes she were coming to see him, but that he "...cannot tell what a day may bring forth. I find tacked on to the gatepost where I board, the following (found this morning). ''June 17th 1879 Nine P.M. Dr. Teed: You will be allowed 24 hours to get out of town or be helped out. By order of the Committee'' People are getting exasperated over my doctrines." Teed continues to tell his sister that he is not going to leave town and seems unconcerned about it.
